Warm up your voice before singing This is so Important ! Before you run, you need to do some warm-up stretches to loosen up your muscles and this is the same in singing. Without vocal exercises you can pull or overstretch the muscles especially the vocal folds in your throat(larynx). Always sip water while you are singing to moisturize your vocal folds and to prevent any vocal injuries. During singing you are required to take a quick breath after each sentence to prepare to sing the next sentence.
